Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube – For Marketing?
Facebook, Twitter and YouTube – Oh My!
Raise your hand if you remember how expensive newspaper ads used to be. It always seemed worth it though because the local paper had a circulation of tens of thousands, maybe more in the big cities. How many people actually read it now – two? That really is a wasted advertising dollar. And, let’s not even talk about the “monthly investment” you have to make to get a tiny, 2”x3” box in the phone book.
What is your next option? A 2 a.m. cable commercial? A mass coupon mailer? Do you really want to be stuck in an envelope with other similar businesses or do you want to stand out from the crowd? Plus, those are expensive options and neither comes with a guarantee that such an outpouring of cash will net any results.
My guess is that you have owned your business for years. You know the ins and outs of what works and what doesn’t. Correction: what worked. The problem is that the world of marketing changed for small businesses and no one invited you to the party.
You’ve probably seen a funny YouTube video; maybe you even signed up for a Facebook account to catch up with a few friends from high school. If you’re over 30 though, you probably fall into one of two groups. You either just don’t know what social media is or you think it is stupid and pointless. It really doesn’t matter which mindset you are; it’s my job to change all that.
The biggest point I need to stress is that social media is not just for teenagers. It is a powerful marketing tool for your business. You can use it to create an online presence and build a brand, to make a small shop seem like a big company or to make a big business appear more personable. The possibilities are endless.
Social Media gives you direct access to your customers AND they now have direct access to you. Newspaper ads and mailers were a one way street. You sent out your message. Done. End of story. Social Media is better referred to as a two-way street. You can quickly, easily and inexpensively communicate with your customer base and they can respond. Instantly. Better yet – they can bring friends. LOTS of friends.
Well, guess what? I have your invitation to the Social Media party right here. I’d love to teach you all there is to know so you can leave your competitors in the dust. Send me an email or call me. We can set up a free (now, there’s a word you don’t hear every day) phone consultation. We can talk about what you’ve done in the past and the possibilities of what a Social Media Marketing Plan can do for your business. I can even sneak a peek and take a look at what your competitors are doing – shhhh! I don’t bite. This is what I do and I Iove it. Who knows? I may even get you to send a tweet.
