Google for Local Businesses

Google Local: Maybe There Is Such A Thing As A Free Lunch.

Have you ever seen those maps with the little red push pins that pop up when you Google something? They show results geared to your geographic area and they usually get top billing ahead of the other search results, which is a nice little perk.  But, what are they?

Google for Local Businesses - Google Places

Those, my dear, are Google Local results. Never heard of it? Not many people have or, at least, they never knew what it was called. Ever heard of the phrase, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch?”  You need to listen up then because Google is about to pick up your tab.

You see, in an effort to offer quick, local solutions to search queries, Google made a bunch of websites for local businesses. OK, a lot of websites. 49 million websites to be exact.  The sites are empty, just sitting there.

Google took the time to design the sites, SEO them and index them. They ALREADY pop up in every related search. They were really trying to connect people with their local businesses. Handy guys over there at Google. Wave and say, “Thank you”.

Unfortunately, the techies over at Google aren’t that great at getting the word out to non-techy small business owners. They failed to inform the plumbers, hair dressers and insurance agents. And, you can’t blame them really. They have a lot on their plate, what with practically running the internet and all.

Well, I’m here now and I’m telling you! I can help you claim your site, jazz it up and try a few tricks to get it to the first spot – all while your competitor’s site sits. Empty. Lonely. Neglected.

What do you need to do? You already did it. You found me.

So, come on and claim your free lunch – Google is buying!
